Members comments/suggestions/issues
Lisa K. has concerns about cutting down established trees vs maintaining the natural setting of our community. According to original by-laws shrubs are to be no more than 15’ max height which is close to house/roof top levels in order to maintain views. There is no stipulation for trees, but it is hoped that property owners would consider neighbour’s views when there are concerns about trees above 15’ on their properties.
The drug issue seems to be rectified – possibly people moving out of the neighbourhood.
New homes are being built consequently current property values are being maintained and in some cases increasing.
Board Positions & Election of Officers
There are no new people stepping up to fill in any vacant positions. By-laws need to be checked to confirm if we require 2 or 3 Directors at Large as we currently have 2.
New Business
CC&R’s need to be checked to confirm Building Restrictions and Regulations.
Brian D. will contact accessor’s office in Bellingham to get contact info for property/lot owners.
Brian D. will follow up with new owners regarding the lot with the maple tree on it.
Clean-up day – there will be no yard/neighbourhood clean-up day this summer. There is some concern regarding the house burned out at the top of Willow Way.
Abandoned property on Skyview – tried to have the trailer taken away, but there are asbestos issues and owner unwilling to pay costs to do so. Lisa K. will check with the County (we are not in the District of Blaine) to find out what else can be done.
A second Neighbourhood Watch sign will be bought for $18.00 (the money has been donated to do so) and will be erected on Seaview.
Neighbourhood Garage Sale – scheduled for Saturday, August 5 with the hope that since that is the British Columbia Day long weekend that Canadian owners will be able to participate.
Advertising of Garage Sale - $50-$100 will be set aside to pay for advertising in the local paper and signs to be made. It will also be advertised on-line through Craig’s list and possibly put a sign on Sharon and Earl’s lot.
John S. will make a sign to be erected at the bottom of Selder Rd at the stop sign by July 22 – 2 weeks prior.
Lisa K. will check on “Block Party” possibility.
8:00PM Sherry E. moved the meeting adjourned. Seconded by Brian D.

OLD BUSINESS: This Board Meeting was dedicated to forging a plan to help our members
protect their views and clean up properties for the next few years. The following steps describe
STEP ONE: Ask members of the Association to nominate lots they think really need to be
cleaned up for health or aesthetic reasons, and to also nominate trees that they want to see
topped/cut down/thinned. A discussion took place regarding how to nominate properties/lots
that are in need of attention and to nominate trees to be topped or cut down while protecting
possible issues that have to do with owner/renter confidentiality. The Board decided to have
properties/trees identified by address numbers only – not by resident/owner name.
STEP TWO: After the nominations are complete, the board will make a list of properties and
another of trees ranked in order from most nominations to fewest.
STEP THREE: Make one lot and one tree the focus each year. We have a small treasury that
could possibly pay for one tree coming down, and maybe our volunteers could clean up a
property each year. We approach the owners and make this offer.
Procedure activity plans from this point will be 1) announcement on website; 2) sending of e- mail and snail mail; and 3 )to have selected a tree and a property by June.
NEW BUSINESS: May Elections: this association will be in need of a president, secretary and
treasurer in the near future. It was suggested that we ask Earl and Sharon Listebarger to act as
our nominating committee along with any other interested person(s.)
Finally, under New business, the Board read and approved this BBVHOA’s updated by-laws. These are online for all members to peruse.
Respectfully submitted
Carol Phillips, Secretary
